Bubba Wallace: Why Don’t Confederate Flag Protesters Don’t Get Pepper Sprayed?
Bubba Wallace recently wondered why Confederate flag protesters don’t get pepper sprayed like Black Lives Matters protesters often do.
NASCAR’s lone full-time black driver asked this question while speaking to the media this past week.
Controversy erupted a little while back following NASCAR’s decision to ban the Confederate flag from its events. Because the circuit has many older, Southern fans – there was an outcry over the move.
It is expected that this decision will be protested by fans in some capacity in coming races. That prompted Wallace to muse why these protests will ultimately be met with a different reaction that BLM protests around the nation.
“It’s their rights for peaceful protest, my man,” Wallace said of the Confederate flag protesters.
“It’s a part of it. But you won’t see them inside the racetracks where we’re having a good time with the new fans that are purchasing their tickets, purchasing their favorite drivers’ apparel. You won’t see it flying in there.
“It’s exactly what you see on the flip side of everything going on and in cities as they peacefully protest. But you won’t see cops pepper-spraying them and shooting them with rubber bullets, will you?”

Wallace has been extremely outspoken on the topic of the Confederate flag as of late. That, in turn, has thrust him into the spotlight.
A few weeks ago, he was involved in a situation where what appeared to be a noose was found in his garage – only for it to turn out that the noose was actually just a pulley for the door.
Based on the overwhelming support Wallace has received up to this point when it comes to the topic of talking about race, the Confederate flag and things of that nature, it is safe to assume that he will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
