New Ed Orgeron LSU Contract Details Revealed

New Ed Orgeron LSU contract details were revealed on Friday morning.

On the heels of winning a National Championship and then experiencing a flurry of staff leaving for other schools, LSU decided to lock down its head coach for the long haul.

As reported by Bruce Feldman, Orgeron and the Tigers have agreed to a six-year contract extension that will pay him more than $42 million.

The amount may appear hefty at first, but it is worth remembering that Orgeron just won LSU its first title since 2007 and has a 40-9 record with the program.

This past season, the Tigers went undefeated behind the coaching of Orgeron and play of quarterback Joe Burrow. Their efforts culminated in a dominant victory over Clemson to win the championship.

Unfortunately, shortly after arguably the most recent college football season in recent memory, LSU experienced something of an exodus.

In addition to key stars declaring for the NFL Draft, the Tigers also watched offensive guru Joe Brady leave for the Carolina Panthers and Dave Aranda jump ship to Baylor.

As a result of those defections, LSU brass realized that something needed to be done to ensure Orgeron would be the program’s head coach for a long time.

How much will the offseason turnover ultimately impact Orgeron and LSU next year? Time will tell.
