New York Knicks Hiring Villanova Coach Jay Wright
The New York Knicks are hiring Villanova coach Jay Wright to be their next head coach, if everything goes according to plan.
Interim head coach Michael Miller is unlikely to remain in that position after this season.
There is obviously always a chance, but the Knicks would have to go on a massive run in order for that to happen.
More likely than not, Miller will be done at the end of the 2020-21 season.
The question then becomes: who will replace him?
According to Adam Zagoria of Forbes Sports, New York is taking a very close look at Wright. The team’s level of interest in him has been described as “strong.”

You will recall, this is not the first time Wright’s name has been floated for a Knicks opening. Because the organization goes through head coaches like bags of chips, he was also considered for the job two years ago following Jeff Hornacek’s firing.
At that point, Wright opted to stay with Villanova.
“It’s not that you’re not interested, I just don’t want to leave,” Wright said.
“It’s the Knicks. You love the Garden, you love New York City, you love the Knicks. I just know I don’t want to leave Villanova.”
The only reason why Wright may be more open to the Knicks job now than he was back in the day is because of what has happened since.
Villanova won a pair of championships between 2016 and 2018. Now that he has accomplished so much and been at the school for a couple of decades, Wright may be open to a change.
That said, given how dysfunctional the Knicks have been in recent years, it actually would not be all that shocking to see him hold off for something better in the NBA realm.
Currently, Wright is deeply focused on winning another National Title. Villanova is presently 19-6 and ranked 15th in the country.
One the season wraps, however, expect for talks of him leaving for the Knicks to heat up once again.
