LA Lakers Working On Big Trade With Sacramento Kings?

Are the LA Lakers working on a big trade with the Sacramento Kings?

The Lakers have had an objectively good season up to this point. Nearly halfway through, the team sits at No. 1 in the Western Conference and figures to be a championship contender.

That said, something about the Lakers is just off. For whatever reason, it just does not feel like Anthony Davis and LeBron James will be enough to bring home a title.

Maybe it is the two losses to the Clippers where the Lakers never quite looked like they had the games under control.

Perhaps it is the lack of ballhandling or shooting up and down the roster.

Regardless of what it is, everyone sees it. As such, team general manager Rob Pelinka has made it clear that he is interesting in upgrading the roster in some capacity ahead of the postseason.

On Sunday, Sam Amick of The Athletic reported that the Lakers were open to listening to offers for their young forward, Kuzma.

One day later, a new reported emerged – this one stating that Sacramento was expressing interest in acquiring Kuzma.

According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Kings are willing to offer a package centered around Bogdan Bogdanovic in return for the Lakers’ young star.

Bogdanovic is averaging 14.5 points per game on 38.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc and 42.6 percent from the field.

Kuzma is putting up 11.8 points per game on 34.6 percent shooting from behind the arc and 42 percent shooting from the field.

Moreover, Kuzma is doing all that on a $1.9 million contract that turns into $3.5 million next season.

Is Bogdanovic alone really enough of an upgrade to justify this trade?

Barring Sacramento sweetening the pot somehow between now and the trade deadline, the answer would appear to be no.
