The Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs a little more than a week ago by the Phoenix Suns.
It was a disappointing finish to the year and re-enforced in the minds of many that the roster, as presently constructed, is not going to win another championship together.
In addition to simply not having enough talent to win another title, this particular combination of Lakers has been prone to stirring up drama.
Whether it’s one star being on the trade block or multiple others acting out on social media – it has been one headache after another.
Fortunately, there is a solution.
Over in the Eastern Conference, the Washington Wizards are very much in a weird state of flux. They clearly need to get started on a rebuild, but lack the pieces necessary to do so.
One scenario that would solve everyone’s problems? Wizards star Russell Westbrook being shipped to the Lakers.
According to Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report, that’s actually a much more feasible option than many people realize.
If this deal were to go down LA would receive Westbrook, whereas the Wizards would get Montrezl Harrell, Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick.
This would be a win-win.
The Wizards would obtain draft capital and the opportunity to dump Westbrook’s massive contract.
LA, meanwhile, would get a guy who led the league with 11.7 assists per game this season, while also nabbing a career-high 11.5 rebounds and scoring 22.2 points per outing.

This trade would solve a lot of problems.
Of course, just because a deal makes sense doesn’t mean it’ll ultimately come to fruition.
If it does, though – expect the Lakers to go into next season as the clear frontrunners for a championship.
