Zach LaVine was at one point seen as the hottest available name on the trade block ahead of the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline.
Early on, four teams expressed interest in acquiring LaVine – with one squad in particular looking like the clear favorite to land him. There was so much demand for the 28-year-old, in fact, that he even made it clear that there is one team he didn’t want to go to.
Unfortunately, in the days since, the hype surrounding LaVine has cooled. As of this week, only one team seems to have very serious interest in adding him ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline.
That team? The Detroit Pistons.
“League sources tell The Stein Line that, while no trade is certain to be consummated, Detroit continues to maintain interest in LaVine,” NBA insider Marc Stein reported.
“And talk between the sides, sources say, have by no means gone dormant. That, at the very least, keeps alive the possibility that the teams can find common ground on a deal between now and the league’s annual in-season trade buzzer at 3 PM ET on Feb. 8.”
In order to secure LaVine, Detroit will need to present the best possible package. What would that ultimately look like?
It would involve Chicago receiving Bojan Bogdanovic, Alec Burks, Isaiah Stewart, a 2026 first rounder and then a 2024 second rounder. The Pistons, in turn, would get LaVine.
While LaVine’s stats are undeniably worse this season than they have been over the last few years, a lot of that can be attributed to the uncertainty surrounding his standing with the Bulls.

A little clarity and stability would likely steady him.
Plus, he could give Detroit the reliable offense star they have been looking for.
Will the Bulls and Pistons be able to work something out ahead of the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline? Time will tell.
