DeMar DeRozan’s first season with the Chicago Bulls was one of the best of his career. He was in the MVP conversation for much of the year and seemed primed to possibly make another deep playoff run in the Eastern Conference.
Unfortunately, in the two years that have followed, DeRozan has been unable to replicate that magic.
As things presently stand, Chicago is 6-14 on the year and seems headed towards a full-on roster blow-up.

DeRozan getting traded seems like an inevitability. And although one NBA squad in particular has its sights set on him, he would prefer to go to one of two other teams.
According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, “when it comes to possible destinations, the Heat and Knicks are known to be preferable to DeRozan if he winds up getting moved.”
So far this year DeRozan is averaging 21.3 points and 4.6 assists per game. He isn’t quite playing at the level he was at during that incredible 2021-22 NBA campaign, but he is still capable of producing results at a really high level.
The big problem with DeRozan, as it has been for many years now, is that he isn’t a three-point threat. He is undoubtedly the most reliable two-point shooter in the league, but for squads that need a sharpshooter to keep opposing defenses honest, he isn’t the guy.

That being said, it is really easy to see how he would be a good fit on Miami or New York.
Both teams need a reliable offensive option, and while he isn’t going to rain three-pointers on the opposition, DeRozan definitely knows how put points on the board.
Will either the Knicks or Heat ultimately make a play for DeRozan ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline? Will the Lakers swoop in and get something done? One way or the other, an answer to both questions will emerge soon enough.
