Steve Kerr Reveals Warriors’ Draymond Green Replacement

Steve Kerr Reveals Warriors’ Draymond Green Replacement

Draymond Green has been out for the first few games of the Golden State Warriors’ 2020-21 season due to a foot injury.

The downside to this is that the team struggled mightily without arguably its third-best player, losing two out of its first three games.

That said, the upside to Green being out is that it gave Warriors head coach Steve Kerr the opportunity to identify other players on the roster.

One such player, Juan Toscano-Anderson out of Marquette, really left an impression.

“Juan has been fantastic,” Kerr said.

“He’s just one of those guys who understands the game at a really, really deep level. He’s setting the screen at the right time, he’s making the back cut at the right time, he’s sliding over defensively to help at the exact right time.”

Toscano-Anderson is so good, in fact, that he reminds Kerr of Green.

“He’s a little bit like Draymond [Green] in that his brain is on high alert at all times at both ends of the floor,” Kerr continued.

“I’m a huge fan. He absolutely belongs in this league. As long as Draymond is out, he’s going to play.”

Toscano-Anderson chipped in five points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal against the Chicago Bulls this past weekend. He also hit a key three-pointer and took a charge on Zach LaVine in transition, proving once again that he is ready to put his body on the line for the cause.

How much playing time will Toscano-Anderson get when Green returns to the lineup?

Time will tell.
