Brian Windhorst Reveals Lakers’ NBA Offseason Plans
The Los Angeles Lakers were one of the NBA’s best teams after the Trade Deadline this year.
A lot of that had to do with the role players the front office managed to acquire and well they fit within the constructs of what the organization was hoping to achieve.
This summer, L.A. will face the difficult decision of either retaining those guys for big money or letting them walk in favor of seeking out a big-name third star.
Earlier in the week ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst appeared on ‘Get Up’ and broke down the Lakers’ offseason plans as they currently stand.
“All of the indications in what Rob Pelinka has said and what they’re sort of lining up behind the scenes point to them doing exactly what Pelinka has gone on the record saying [they would do] and keep this team together,” Windhorst said.
“That would mean re-signing Rui Hachimura, re-signing Austin Reaves, and potentially re-signing Lonnie Walker. I do think it’s a question mark about if you’re going to re-sign D’Angelo Russell, what’s the contract going to be?”
That being said, obviously things are fluid. Circumstances can still change. The NBA is a crazy place nowadays.
The Lakers are one of three potential suitors for Fred VanVleet, as well as one of three potential suitors for Dejounte Murray.

If a trade for either guy becomes legitimately viable, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see Los Angeles’ plans change.
For now, though – Windhorst is probably right. The Lakers had a lot of success with its current group and there is no reason to blow it all up unless you can get something truly special in return.
