Dwight Howard’s week did not get off to the best start. Instead of flying high following his first ever NBA Championship, the Los Angeles Lakers big man is dealing with some personal strife.

Howard’s 12-year-old son, Braylon, took to social media recently to expose his father for being absent from his life.

In a message that featured a lengthy post from Christine Vest, who also has a child with Howard, Braylon wrote: “My dad isn’t a real dad. He don’t even talk to me and he know I’m sad and need him. I’m almost 13 so I can talk now.”

Howard reportedly has five children with five different women. Shortly after he won his title, he was called out by the mother of his other child, Royce Reed.

“Y’all better stop praising ppl based off a screenshot of their lives on tv and Instagram posts,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Better yet… imagine having to text a 3rd party to try and find out if this person plans on seeing their 2 kids that live here and that they haven’t seen since July or SPOKEN to since August before they leave the city and the response is ‘I don’t know, I gotta see what the team doin,’” she continued.

“A multimillionaire who can catch any flight with a choice to spend a couple hours with children who want to think he’s their own personal Superman. A child who REALLY NEEDS HIM RIGHT NOW! But… I hold this little boy at night through tears and anger.

“I comfort him. I raise him with love not through money. So anyone who has an issue with that F— YALL! Straight up! Braylon will always cause my lioness to come out! PERIOD!”

Parenthood wasn’t the only thing the Lakers big man was in the news for this week. He also found himself on the wrong end of Shaquille O’Neal’s ire, following a memorable NBA Championship celebration video on Instagram.

“Everybody out there, don’t ever give up on your dreams,” Howard said at the time. “You can f–king do it, I swear! Just keep fighting.”

That seemingly irked O’Neal.

“You know what I don’t like as a player though?” he asked on his podcast.

“There’s a lot of players on their little Instagram bragging like they were the reason they got the championship. I ain’t going to say no names. Sit your ass down, you didn’t do nothing.

“Stop it. … Stop it, front-runner. Bandwagon jumper. Stop it. Don’t be talking to me like you know, player. Sit your ass down, stop it. Post one pic and sit your ass down. … You ain’t do nothing.”

It didn’t take people long to figure out who O’Neal was talking about, since he has frequently taken issue with Howard in the past.

“If you’re a role player, don’t be on the Instagram like you’re a star,” O’Neal said.

All in all, not a great few weeks for Howard. Fortunately, things can only go up from here.
