The Philadelphia 76ers are gearing up for a big 2022-23 NBA season. After a disappointing conclusion to last year, all parties involved seem to have agreed that improvement is necessary.
Joel Embiid is saying all the right things. James Harden underwent a body transformation that has him looking like the Incredible Hulk. And Daryl Morey appears to be working on a blockbuster trade that could turn Philly into an immediate title contender.
This week, however, Morey made headlines for something other than his executive prowess. Rather, at a recent Philadelphia Phillies game, folks fell in love with the shirt he decided to wear.
The shirt in question largely speaks for itself:

“Shut up Butthead, we’re never gonna score,” Morey captioned the photo.
With social media being what it is nowadays, reactions to his t-shirt poured in immediately:

Big picture, shirt stuff aside, this is shaping up to be a massive year for Morey’s legacy. He put this 76ers squad together in his vision. That means its success or failure will rest on his shoulders.
It feels like everyone understands the magnitude of what is on the line. Harden knows he can’t have a repeat of the dynamic between him and his old Brooklyn Nets teammates. Embiid gets that he can’t have another season where him and Ben Simmons get equally far in the playoffs.
The time to do work is now.

Can Philly win a championship in 2022-23?
Time will tell.
