Knicks’ Real Reason For Trading For Karl-Anthony Towns

The New York Knicks acquired Karl-Anthony Towns for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and a first-round pick on Friday evening.

For obvious reasons, the move sent massive reverberations throughout the sports world.

Because the Timberwolves had literally just reached the Western Conference Finals, many were surprised that they would make such a drastic change.

On Saturday morning the real reason why emerged.

“Knicks, per league sources in touch with team, feel they had a great opportunity to address their biggest need at C in trading for a 4 time All Star & 2-time All NBA player in Karl Anthony Towns,” NBA insider Begley wrote.

“They see Towns, 28, as a great fit with their other high-end talent and someone who complements the rest of the core well, those league sources say.”

Will Towns be the piece that puts the Knicks over the top and guides them to an NBA championship? Time will tell.
