Jayson Tatum Admits 1 NBA Team Could’ve Beaten Celtics
Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics won an NBA title this past season.
During a recent interview, Tatum admitted that one team could have given Boston a legit run for the championship.
“People always ask me, when did you guys know you were going to win a championship?” he recalled in an interview with the Boston Globe.
“When [the] Minnesota [Timberwolves] beat [the] Denver [Nuggets], I felt like Denver was the only team that they matched up best with us. I thought that we were going to play Denver in the Finals and it was going to be a good one.”
Tatum also admitted that when the Celtics were up 3-0 in the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, anxiety for all parties involved as at an all-time high.
“When we were in Dallas and we went up, 3-0, oh my God,” he said.

“Nobody has ever come back from 0-3, so I remember getting back to the locker room and I remember saying, I don’t know what game it’s going to be, but we’re going to win the championship. I wasn’t able to sleep that night, and I remember the morning of Game 4, we had a shootaround,” Tatum said.
“I had never been in the position that if we win tonight, we’re champions. We lost by like 30, we wanted to win so badly, we were so anxious and so tight. But I knew when we were coming back home for Game 5, we were going to win,” he added.
Tatum had a pretty rough summer, but that just means he will have more to prove next season.
Will Tatum be able to lead the Celtics to a second consecutive title next year? Time will tell.
