Ex-Cavaliers Star Rejects Lakers, Goes To Europe Instead
An ex-Cleveland Cavaliers star decided to reject the Los Angeles Lakers and go to Europe instead this past week.
L.A. came into the NBA offseason with lofty goals. Big names like Klay Thompson, Dejounte Murray and DeMar DeRozan were on the front office’s Wishlist.
Instead, all of those players opted to play elsewhere.
Thompson in particular decided to take less money from the Dallas Mavericks in order to avoid Los Angeles. The real reason why came out later.
This week, news emerged that even role players want no part of the Lakers at this juncture. Former Cavaliers forward Cedi Osman received a training camp invite from the team and rejected it in favor of going to Europe.
“He also received interest from the Los Angeles Lakers, which invited him for a training camp; however, due to the lack of guarantees about making it to the season roster, he decided to refuse and come back to Europe,” reported Eurohoops’ Nikola Miloradovic.
Yikes. What a sad state of affairs for the purple and gold. They can’t recruit a willing player to save their lives anymore.
Obviously the Lakers have been linked to a pretty substantial blockbuster trade in recent days, but if it doesn’t ultimately come together, this summer will have been a huge bust for L.A.
