The Boston Celtics defeated the Washington Wizards with ease 118-110 on Tuesday night.
In doing so, the Boston secured themselves a showdown against the Brooklyn Nets in the opening round of the NBA playoffs.
Unfortunately, rather than focusing on that, the hot topic of conversation as it pertained to the Celtics on Wednesday morning was a Twitter faux paus that had the team scrambling.
Roughly one hour before Tuesday’s game, Boston’s social media account sent out this tweet:
Specifically, folks seemed to take offense to point guard Kemba Walker arriving to TD Garden wearing JBL headphones and a ‘don’t tread on me’ jacket.
Naturally, social media had some reactions.

Even if Kemba doesn’t know what “Don’t tread on me” means(trying to give him the benefit of the doubt) he needs to have someone giving him better advice and the Celtics social media needs to be smarter than to publicize that.

After the backlash, the Celtics swiftly deleted the offending tweet.
It has just been that sort of year for the franchise. Whether it’s Charles Barkley lambasting the organization for its failures, Jayson Tatum watching the front office trade away his best friend or Danny Ainge refusing to acquire James Harden for the strangest of reasons – it just feels like nothing is going right for the Celtics this season.
Will Boston be able to turn things around against Brooklyn in the opening round? Probably not. But it will be fun to see them try.
