NBA Players To Wear ‘Vote’ Shirts In Conference Finals

NBA players will wear shirts with a single word written on them for the NBA Conference Finals.

That one word? Vote.

On Tuesday afternoon, NBA insider Shams Charania reported that “NBA players will debut new warm-up shirts displaying ‘VOTE’ for the remainder of the Eastern and Western Conference Finals and 2020 NBA Finals.”

That means when the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics square off on Tuesday, and the Los Angeles Lakers meet with the winner of Tuesday night’s Game 7 later in the week, they will all be wearing warm-ups with ‘Vote’ written on them.

To be clear, players will still be permitted to wear pre-approved messages on the back of their game jerseys. That will not be impacted by this new announcement.

Given the mixed response that the NBA’s brushes with politics have generated from fans thus far, it will be interesting to see what sort of reception this most recent announcement garners.
