âTonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!â President Trump wrote.
The First Lady subsequently released her own statement.
“As too many Americans have done this year, @POTUS & I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19,â she tweeted out.
âWe are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements. Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together.”
President Trumpâs physician, Dr. Sean P. Conley, also released a statement regarding the situation.

âThis evening I received confirmation that both President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the SARS-coV-2- virus,â he said.
âThe President and First Lady are both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence.
âThe White House medical team and I will maintain a vigilant watch, and I appreciate the support provided by some of our countryâs greatest medical professionals and institutions.â
President Trump and the NBA have had a tense relationship in recent months. Recently, he critiqued the league for its social justice stances and pointed to that as the reason for its notable TV ratings decline.
âThe kneeling (during the national anthem) has been horrible for basketball,â President Trump said.

âTheyâve had horrible ratings, low numbers. People are angry about it. They have enough politics with guys like me. There was a nastiness about the NBA the way (protesting) was done. The NBA is in trouble, bigger trouble than they understand.â
NBA star LeBron James quickly responded by saying he didn’t care if the league lost President Trump’s viewership.
âYou trying to make me laugh right now? I appreciate that,â James said.
âI really donât think the basketball community are sad about losing his viewership, him viewing the game. And thatâs all I got to say.â
Additional details regarding how President Trump is recovering should become available as the day progresses.
