Red Sox Hiring Surprising Managerial Candidate
The Red Sox are hiring a surprising managerial candidate, it would appear.
Boston parted ways with Alex Cora a few weeks ago after an MLB investigation implicated him in a far-reaching cheating scandal.
As a bench coach for the Houston Astros, Cora reportedly oversaw a signal-stealing operation that he may or may not have carried with him to his next job.
Following Boston’s decision to let Cora go, there was a lot of speculation regarding who would be brought on to replace him.

According to Hardball Talk, the Red Sox are reportedly interviewing Arizona Diamondbacks bench coach Luis Urueta for the position.
Urueta, 39, previously worked under former Boston bench coach Torey Lovullo for two years.
Over the past 18 seasons he has worked as a coach for the Diamondbacks in some capacity.
In 2017, Urueta served as the manager of the Colombian team during that year’s World Baseball Classic.
While Urueta obviously not have the name recognition of some of the other managerial candidates that have been discussed by the Red Sox up to this point, he would certainly make for an interesting hire.
Boston is expected to make a final decision regarding the vacancy at some point in the next few weeks.
