Boston Red Sox Make A Big Move

The Boston Red Sox made a big move this week.

On Tuesday, the team revealed that it was re-signing Mitch Moreland on a one-year deal.

According to The Athletic MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, Moreland will earn $2.5 million as a result of the new contract.

Beyond that, he has a $3 million team option for 2021.

If the team chooses not to give him that additional year in 2021, Moreland will get a $500,000 buyout from the Red Sox.

The 34-year-old has spent the last three years with Boston.

Over the course of his stint with the organization he has batted .247, has an on-base percentage of .326 and a slugging percentage of .455.

In 2018, Moreland was an All-Star.

It will be interesting to see what impact Moreland will ultimately have on Boston’s output come the 2020 season.
