Angel Hernandez Botches Calls During Yankees vs Nationals
Major League Baseball umpire Angel Hernandez began trending on Twitter late Thursday afternoon after botching multiple calls during an Opening Day showdown between the New York Yankees and Washington Nationals.
After months of delay, baseball officially re-commenced this week much to the acclaim of fans across the nation. Unfortunately, the happiness was short-lived.
Almost immediately after the game began, the criticism started. And the criticism was primarily aimed at one person: Hernandez.

Hernandez made headlines earlier this week when a couple of quotes from him regarding a racial discrimination lawsuit against umpiring executive Randy Marsh went viral.
Essentially, he made the case that Major League Baseball systematically discriminated against umpires of color.
Furthermore, Hernandez argued, racial discrimination led to him being overlooked for World Series games.
Hernandez has been a mainstay in the MLB since 1991. He served under the National League banner for an eight-year stretch between 1991 and 1999, and then subsequently worked across baseball since 2000.
