Miami Lands Major Star In Addition To D’Eriq King

Miami landed a major star in addition to D’Eriq King this week.

The big news of the day on Monday was King confirming what everyone already suspected. He was officially making the move from Houston to Miami.

Lost in the shuffle of the celebration was that the Hurricanes also pulled in another major get the very same day.

Temple defensive end Quincy Roche revealed this week that he was also committing to the University of Miami.

Roche was one of the top pass rushers available, and he will provide an immediate boost to a Hurricanes defense that badly needed a talent infusion.

Roche is a grad student, and thus eligible to suit for Miami right away.

“Without further ado, I would like to proudly express my commitment to the University of Miami,” he wrote on social media.

“I am ready to bring leadership, toughness and hardwork to the University of Miami football program as we push to win the ACC championship.”

In 2019 Roche recorded 13 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, five passes defended and 49 total tackles.

Over the course of his three-year collegiate career he has amassed 137 tackles, 39.5 tackles for a loss, 26 sacks, six forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.

The ‘Canes are fresh off a year that saw them go 6-7 – good for third in the ACC Coastal division. On top of that, they lost the Independence Bowl in humiliating fashion.

Miami will unquestionably have more talent in 2020 than the program did in 2019.

Will that lead to better results on the field? Time will tell.
