Legendary gymnast McKayla Maroney is a well-regarded retired Olympian who grew to international prominence as a vital and irreplaceable part of the U.S. women’s team 10 years ago.
At the 2012 Games, Maroney won gold in both the team event and a silver medal in the individual vault event.
In the years since her retirement from the sport, Maroney has worked on becoming a massive social media influencer – with great results.
Currently she has more than 1.4 million followers on Instagram alone.
That massive reach is a big reason why she went viral last week. In a post aimed at promoting positivity, she published this:

The response was swift. The post earned nearly 87,000 likes – including many comments about Maroney’s choice of attire.
“Omg I love this sports bra! My colors,” wrote one fan.
“I’d tell you where it’s from but idk! It’s 9 years old and was given to me when I shot an ad for Dora the Explorer,” Maroney replied.
