McKayla Maroney celebrated Olivia Dunne’s birthday with her this week.
A decade ago, Maroney was the biggest name in gymnastics when she helped lead the ‘Fierce Five’ to Olympic gold. Along the way, she also picked up an individual silver medal for herself.
These days, thanks to the road to social media influencer glory paved for her by Maroney, Dunne is currently LSU’s biggest sports star.
This week, Dunne celebrated her 21st birthday. It was a wild occasion – and Maroney made sure to get in on the fun.
Maroney generally has little trouble going viral. Be it for her intimate photos with her boyfriend, provocative workout pictures or racy poolside video, she is always in the headlines for something or other.
Likewise, Dunne too is a permanent fixture in the larger cultural zeitgeist. Whether it is for her sister’s wild outfits or her own spicy dance videos in her pajamas, Dunne is a mainstay in the news cycle as well.
Plus, there is also just Dunne’s standard fare social media output. It also never disappoints.

Big picture, you love to see Maroney and Dunne join forces in the way they have.
It is great that a mutual respect exists between these two absolute legends in gymnastics-turned-influencing.

In many ways, Maroney walked so that Dunne could run. And now the latter has taken the baton from the former and reached new heights with it.
Will Dunne and Maroney work together in some capacity in the future? Time will tell.
