Manti Te’o married an actual, real life woman on Saturday. The former Notre Dame star went down in sports history several years ago when he found himself at the center of a catfishing controversy that made many people re-think their relationships their fake dead girlfriends.

This weekend, Te’o officially tied the knot with his girlfriend Jovi Nicole Engbino.

“Yesterday I got to marry my best friend and the love of my life in an intimate beach ceremony,” Engbino wrote on Instagram.

“Although this was not how we envisioned our ceremony, it was perfect. We will be having our reception and celebration when Temples and venues open back up so we can share this special occasion with our families and I couldn’t be more excited.”

Te’o was similarly effusive in his love in a separate post.

“I couldn’t give you the world but I think I did better…I gave you my last name and it looks good on you Mrs. Te’o,” he wrote.

The newly wed Mr. and Mrs. Teo got together back in 2015, not long after the Lennay Kekua catfish saga exploded many a brains across America.

Te’o is currently unsigned, but has had a reasonably lengthy NFL career all things considered. He was drafted by the then-San Diego Chargers in 2013 and played for them for three years. From there, he joined the New Orleans Saints and was a member of that organization until 2019.

It remains to be seen how Te’o’s 2020 will fare from a professional standpoint, but on a personal level he seems to be doing just fine.
