Manny Diaz lost a Miami star to transfer this week.

Defensive end Scott Patchan revealed on Saturday that he was planning on entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.

In his own words, he is now seeking a “new challenge.”

“I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” he wrote on his personal Twitter.

“It has always been my dream to play at the University of Miami.

“I will cherish the relationships fostered with my teammates, coaches and others. I will be a Cane for life. I now look forward to new challenge. God bless.”

Patchan joined Miami back in 2014.

Standing six-foot-six and 245 pounds, he possessed all of the physical attributes necessary for success at the collegiate level.

Coming out of high school, Patchan was ranked the 22nd best strong side defensive end in his class.

Over the course of 30 outings with the Hurricanes, Patchan recorded 63 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.

In 2019, specifically, he amassed 33 tackles, six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

A medical waiver ultimately granted Patchan a sixth year of eligibility, which h will now use elsewhere.

It remains to be seen what school he ultimately transfers to.

  1. He was a legacy signee, got family connections. Never a star. Got beat out by a freshman, Rousseau. Always showed up on time. Never learned how to shed blocks.
