Luka Doncic is currently in the midst of arguably the most disappointing season of his NBA career.
Fresh off a Western Conference Finals showing last year where he and his squad defeated and emasculated the Phoenix Suns, the Dallas Mavericks have been a shell of their former selves.
Barring something crazy happening in the final few games of their 2022-23 NBA campaign, they will likely miss the playoffs altogether this season.
Despite his team’s failed season, Doncic decided to drop his new shoe this week. It left both NBA fans and Mavs fans a bit divided.

Earlier this week Doncic took a reflective position on this season. He seemed to acknowledge that it was a failed year and admitted he and Kyrie Irving hadn’t meshed fully yet.
Irving has said something similar in recent days.

It will be interesting to see how all parties involved bounce back next year. Irving, an unrestricted free agent, has made it clear where he hopes to end up in 2023-24. Whether he will ultimately get his wish remains to be seen.
Doncic obviously won’t enjoy the sort of success he was hoping for on the basketball courts this season. Will he at least experience the consolation prize of his newest shoe selling out? Time will tell.
