Luka Doncic is objectively one of the best players in the NBA. Despite being only 22 years old, he is not only the Dallas Mavericks’ franchise star – he is someone the league is hoping to build around for a very long time.
That said, he has some faults.
During Saturday night’s showdown between the Mavericks and Denver Nuggets, Doncic’s extremely annoying new habit finally caught up with him.
This now-viral exchange between him and referee Bill Kennedy speaks for itself:

Doncic has developed a reputation for being a notoriously whiny complainer. Obviously all stars whine to some degree, but the degree to which he does it and the obnoxiousness of it has really started to become grating.
It has now gotten to the point where even the officials are fed up with it. It’ll be interesting to see how that ultimately ends up impacting Doncic and his communication with the refs going forward.
After a slow start to the season partially due to Doncic entering the year extremely fat, things have turned around for the Mavericks. They won 9 of their last 11 outings heading into All-Star weekend and Doncic averaged 31.7 points on 52 percent shooting from the field, 7.6 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game. Most importantly, Doncic’s absolutely terrible three-point shooting improved during that stretch – jumping to 46.5 percent.
Currently the Mavericks are 20-17 and sit eighth in the Western Conference.
