LeBron James Reveals How He Vetoes Darvin Ham’s Decisions

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is widely regarded as one of the best players in NBA history.

As such, his decision-making skills on the court often trump those of the people he is playing with and against.

This week, however – James revealed that sometimes his decision-making trumps his own head coach’s as well.

During a recent podcast appearance, James explained how during a recent game against the Los Angeles Clippers he vetoed a gameplan enacted by Darvin Ham in favor of a more effective one.

“We had switching built in versus Kawhi and versus James [Harden] and whatever the case may be, and I vetoed it in the second half,” James said.

“I know T-Lue more than any other player that’s been with T-Lue, and I know he plays target ball too. It got to a point where I knew, in order for us to get back into the game, switching anybody onto Kawhi is not favorable for us. So I might as well get ready for the Wizards. So, I vetoed it.”

None of this should come as a surprise. Ham’s decision-making skills are very iffy. This is a guy who somehow managed to dislike one of the most beloved Lakers around.

Plus, there have been reports for months that James has been openly undermining Ham.

This is just the latest example of that.

Will James and Ham ultimately find a way to get on the same page of the 2024 NBA playoffs commencing? Time will tell, but the smart money is pointing to the answer being no.
