Latest New England Patriots Cheating Scandal Uncovered

The latest New England Patriots cheating scandal has been uncovered, it appears.

A report surfaced on Monday afternoon that the NFL was investigating the Patriots for reportedly video taping the Cincinnati Bengals during their game against the Cleveland Browns.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor was asked about the allegation on Monday, and said that he was “aware” of an ongoing investigation.

“At the question of it being alleged a Patriots official had a videographer filming the Bengals sideline from the press box on Sunday, Zac Taylor had no comment only saying he was ‘aware there was an incident’ and ‘the league was investigating it,’ but had no comment,” tweeted out Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic.

ESPN’s Dianna Russini confirmed that the NFL was investigating the matter.

“I reached out to the Bengals to get more information and a statement on the situation involving this alleged videotaping. Spokesperson says for right now they are aware of the situation, the league office is aware, and they have no further comment,” she tweeted out.

A short while after the allegations initially surfaced, ESPN insider Adam Schefter issued a series of tweets that made it seem like it was all one big misunderstanding.

“Patriots’ advance scout was not filming but being filmed, per a league source. He was being filmed for a feature the team produced called, ‘Do Your Job.’ The video crew was credentialed by the Browns to shoot video in the press box and their PR person was aware, per the source,” he tweeted.

“An official for the Bengals, who were playing at Cleveland Sunday, saw a member of the video crew wearing a Patriots’ shirt and alerted the league, which confiscated the video, according to the source. NFL has video; Patriots say video is a press-box feature of the advance scout,” he continued.

Russini seemed to confirm that this was all a misunderstanding in a follow-up tweet.

“Just spoke to New England about the situation. Apparently this was a very BIG misunderstanding and lack of communication with the Bengals,” she tweeted out.

Was this all one big misunderstanding? Time will tell. But given the Patriots’ history, you can understand why people would be skeptical.
