The Charlotte Hornets defeated the Golden State Warriors 106-102 on Sunday evening.
With the victory the latter squad fell to 11-2 on the year while the former moved up to 8-7.
Second-year star LaMelo Ball finished with 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in the winning effort.
One of the more interesting side plots stemming from this weekend’s showdown was the fact that Warriors star Stephen Curry’s dad, Dell, works as a broadcaster for the Hornets.
After the game, Ball was asked if he’d be willing to sit down with Dell and console him after his son’s loss.

“That’s a great question,” Ball replied. “I’d like to talk to Dell for sure. Eat some dinner with him. I’m always up for it if somebody paying, you feel me? I’ll be there. You feel me? If it’s free, it’s me.”
Jokes aside, Ball has been in the headlines quite a bit over the past few weeks as a result of what some believed was a simmering beef with Hornets coach James Borrego.

Borrego mildly criticized certain aspects of Ball’s playing style, and Ball conversely critiqued some of Borrego’s coaching decisions. It appears that for now, however, a truce has been established.
The Hornets have surprised a lot of folks thus far through this early part of the 2021-22 NBA season. Will they be able to keep the good times coming? Time will tell.
