Lakers And Pistons Working Derrick Rose Trade?

Are the Lakers and Pistons working on a Derrick Rose trade?

Los Angeles currently boasts the best record in the Western Conference.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis have come to play at a level fans could have only dreamed of when the duo first came together.

Everything is going right for the Lakers.

That being said, the squad still needs to make some changes to improve its odds of capturing an NBA championship.

As two losses to the LA Clippers revealed, there are still some significant holes with the roster that need to be addressed.

Most notably, the Lakers need someone who can take some of the offensive burden off James and Davis. Kyle Kuzma was originally thought of as someone who had the potential to do that, but he has regressed this season.

As a result, the addition of someone like Rose might be precisely what LA needs.

The Pistons point guard is currently enjoying something of a career resurgence. Presently, he is averaging 18 points, 6 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game in just 25.8 minutes of action.

When Detroit opted to start Rose over the course of the past two outings, those numbers jumped to 25 points per game and 8 assists per game. And he is doing it all while shooting an insane 77 percent from the field.

Rose essentially provides an instant offensive shot in the arm whenever he is in the game.

The Pistons are struggling badly this year, and management has made it clear that everyone is available for trading.

If the Lakers put together a package consisting of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Rajon Rondo and Talen Horton-Tucker, it might just be enough to pry Rose away from Detroit.

LA general manager Rob Pelinka has pledged to take steps to improve the roster before the Feb. 6 trade deadline. If he is serious about that, making an aggressive move to acquire Rose would be a good place to start.
