LA Dodgers And Boston Red Sox Working On Big Trade

The LA Dodgers and Boston Red Sox are working on a big trade.

Fresh off a 2018 World Series appearance, neither the Dodgers nor the Red Sox were able to make it back last season.

Boston did not make the playoffs altogether, and LA got knocked out in the first round by the Washington Nationals.

The expectation was that the Dodgers would make some big moves in the offseason to patch up a few very notable holes, but so far nothing has materialized.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox are in pure cost-cutting mode – trying to dump as much salary as possible.

As it turns out, these organizations may be able to help one another in achieving their offseason goals.

According to Jon Morosi of the MLB Network, LA and Boston are in discussions for a trade that would center around Mookie Betts and David Price.

Betts is a four-time All-Star. Over the past four years he has led all of baseball in runs with 487 total and won an MVP for his troubles in 2018.

Price is a former Cy Young winner who went 7-5 with an ERA of 4.28 this past year. That being said, just one season earlier he went 16-7.

The Red Sox would presumably come away from the exchange with at least one notable prospect and a ton of financial relief.

Last year LA finished the regular season with a 106-56 record before getting eliminated from championship contention.

The Red Sox finished 84-78 and did not qualify for the postseason.
