Kyrie Irving’s Harsh Assessment Of Nets (Video)

The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Denver Nuggets 125-119 on Saturday night.

Prior to coming back and emerging with the win, Brooklyn was down by more than 20 at one point. That, coupled with his team being 5-5 in their last 10 outings, led to Nets star Kyrie Irving getting brutally honest with how things are going for his squad.

Irving made the comments during the postgame news conference.

“We were embarrassed the last few games,” Irving said.

“When I say embarrassing, I mean just not playing up to our capabilities and teams are just coming out and doing whatever they want and feel good. Guys that are on the opposing team, supporting guys on the team are having huge nights sometimes — that’s when it gets embarrassing is when you’re not doing the little things for one another. Moving forward, we just learn from it.”

With the victory, Brooklyn moved a half-game in front of the Milwaukee Bucks with four outings remaining in the race for the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

When the Nets acquired James Harden, the expectation for the franchise immediately became championship or bust. This was despite head coach Steve Nash saying there was one big issue with the team, even with players like Ben Simmons openly dismissing them, and regardless of all the drama that has surrounded the squad.

Their recent .500 mark over the past 10 games suddenly led to many questioning the Nets’ championship viability.

Will they be able to ultimately put it together in time for a title run?

Time will tell.
