Kevin Sumlin Loses Star To Oklahoma

Kevin Sumlin lost a star to Oklahoma this week.

Running backs coach DeMarco Murray is departing Arizona after just one year for a job with Oklahoma.

While Kevin Sumlin is not surprised by Murray’s decision, it is still something of abrupt change for all involved.

Oklahoma reportedly reached out to Murray when its vacancy first opened up, and he was extremely responsive.

Murray was said to be the Sooners’ top choice of the position from the beginning.

Sumlin hired Murray at Arizona following the departure of Clarence McKinney to Texas Southern.

Murray’s ties to Oklahoma obviously go way back, and ironically enough, they start with Sumlin.

Sumin was Oklahoma’s offensive coordinator during Murray’s first year with Sooners.

Murray is widely regarded as one of the best players in Oklahoma football history.

Over the course of his time there, he amassed 3,685 yards on the ground and 50 scores, as well as 157 receptions and 13 touchdowns through the air.
