Jim Harbaugh and Nick Saban respond to Michigan vs Alabama during recent press conferences.
The College Football Playoff field is set, and neither the Wolverines nor Crimson Tide will be participating this year.
Instead, both storied programs will be facing off against one another in the Citrus Bowl.
In response to his team being matched up against Alabama, Harbaugh had nothing but praise for the other side.
Harbaugh on Citrus conference call: “The Alabama team is a great team. They’ve set the bar for college football the last many years….. High-powered offense, a great defense. I’ve already started to look at them.”

Saban was similarly complimentary of what Michigan brings to the table.
Nick Saban on Citrus Bowl conference call: “A challenge we certainly look forward to” vs. Michigan says the team is disappointed how it finished season “this is an opportunity to show who we are”

“This is an opportunity for us to reestablish the standard we want to play to,” Saban said, before adding that “this is an opportunity to show who we are.”
Obviously both programs entered this year with expectations of playing for a National Championship, so there is a little bit of a letdown in that regard.
Despite that, this should be an exciting game for all involved and will tell us a lot about where both schools are heading into next year.
