The Houston Rockets traded James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets this week in a multi-team deal that included a bevy of players and draft picks. In doing so, they ended months of speculation regarding the rapidly deteriorating relationship between them and their biggest star of the past decade.
Early Saturday afternoon, the Nets announced that Harden would be making his debut against the Orlando Magic. For obvious reasons, fans were excited.
When Harden finally rolled up to the arena late Saturday afternoon, folks at home couldn’t help but notice the unique outfit he had picked for the big game.
Needless to say, Twitter had some reactions.

Any particular reason James Harden is wearing my mom’s kitchen apron?

Social media jokes notwithstanding, it will be interesting to see how Harden ultimately performs in Brooklyn. There was a lot of negativity coming out regarding him towards the end of his Houston run. Everything from incessant partying to being a locker room cancer was raised as a Harden-related problem, and the former league MVP will need to do some work to clean up the reputational damage that was caused.
Brooklyn paid a king’s ransom to acquire Harden, so clearly there is a lot on the line.

When it was all said and done, the Nets gave up Caris LaVert, Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince, three unprotected first-round draft picks in 2022, 2024 and 2026, as well as pick swaps in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027.
Will the organization’s bet on Harden pay off? Time will tell.
