James Harden’s Blunt Take On LeBron James, Russell Westbrook-Led Lakers

James Harden’s Blunt Take On LeBron James, Russell Westbrook-Led Lakers

This year’s NBA season is shaping up to be a battle between two prominent franchises: the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers.

Last season, Brooklyn went out and acquired James Harden. Doing so gave them three potent offensive weapons and legitimate superstars. It’s the sort of firepower that is very difficult to match up with if you’re an opposing squad.

As a result, the Lakers decided to fight fire with fire. In free agency this summer the team went out and acquired Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards. In making the move, LA now has its own Big 3 – Westbrook, LeBron James and the freshly very in-shape Anthony Davis.

This week, Harden offered some blunt thoughts on how the new-look Lakers will fare.

“They got to figure out the fit,” he said. “On paper, they look great. They got vets, guys with experience. We got the same thing.”

For whatever reason, over the past couple of months, numerous Nets players have come out and dismissed the Lakers as legitimate threats. Kevin Durant was the first to do it. Then came Blake Griffin. And now Harden is sort of doing the same, albeit in a more polite way.

The war between the Lakers and Nets in 2021-22 promises to be fascinating. Who will ultimately come out on top? Time will tell.
