James Harden Offers Surprising Response On LeBron James, China and Daryl Morey
James Harden offered a surprising response on LeBron James, China and Daryl Morey.
Earlier this week, James reignited a media firestorm when he publicly rebuked Morey for his comments supporting the people of Hong Kong.
James, who was overseas with the Los Angeles Lakers when Morey tweeted out his initial comment, said that the Rockets general manager “wasn’t educated” on the ongoing situation between Hong Kong and China.
In response to his comments, James was widely condemned by a large portion of the media on both sides of the aisle.
On Tuesday, perhaps having learned from James’ misstep, Mike D’Antoni, Tyson Chandler and Thabo Sefolosha all side-stepped questions regarding the controversy.
Rockets — D’Antoni, Harden, Chandler, Sefolosha — passed on responding to LeBron James’ comments on Daryl Morey’s Hong Kong tweet and the fallout. Harden: “At this point, I’m focused on what we’ve got here in this locker room, focused on getting better every single day.”

Harden offered the only semblance of a response on the matter, and even that was more of a non-answer than anything else.
“At this point I’m focused on what we’ve got here in this locker room,” he said.
“Focused on getting better every single day.”
Based on what happened to James when he spoke out on the matter, it’s safe to assume that no other NBA player or coach will make the same mistake any time soon.
