Ivan Redkach bit Danny Garcia during their boxing match on Saturday night.

Garcia ultimately walked away with the victory, as everyone figured he would, but it was not without controversy.

In the bout’s eighth round, Redkach could clearly be seen biting Garcia. It was not subtle at all and fans at home immediately saw what had transpired.

While doing his post-fight interview, Garcia revealed that Redkach literally said “Mike Tyson” after biting him.

“[Redkach] bit me,” Garcia said.

“He said ‘Mike Tyson!’ when he bit me. I said, ‘ref, he bit me.’”

Garcia noted that he never before had ever fallen victim to anything like that in a boxing match.

The incident proved to be a callback to a 1997 showdown between Tyson and Evander Holyfield, where the former famously bit the latter during their bout.

With Saturday’s victory Garcia moves to 36-2.

Next up for him will likely be Manny Pacquiao, Keith Thurman or Errol Spencer Jr.
