That is the question fans are asking after Buffalo cut the veteran running back on Saturday.

McCoy, 31, is coming off something of a slow year in 2018. For the season, he put up 514 yards and three touchdowns on 161 rushing attempts.

That is down from the 1,138 yards and six touchdowns he racked up 287 attempts in 2017.

The Bills likely figured that with rookie Devin Singletary and the ageless Frank Gore, they had enough talent at the position.

So where will McCoy end up? Well, there are a few possibilities.

Houston desperately needs a new running back after losing Lamar Miller to an ACL tear in the preseason. Even if Duke Johnson does perform well throughout the year, the Texans need a second option.

The Raiders are another interesting choice. Josh Jacobs is obviously there, but it remains to be seen how he performs against consistently tough NFL defenses.

If not the Raiders, the Chargers could make a lot of sense here as well.

Melvin Gordon is still holding out and LA head coach Anthony Lynn was Buffalo’s offensive coordinator during McCoy’s impressive 2016 campaign. McCoy ran for 13 touchdowns that year.

Kansas City is another possible destination. McCoy spent his formative years in Philadelphia under the tutelage of Andy Reid.

There have also been some rumors that at one point the Chiefs were exploring a trade for McCoy.

Finally, New England figures to be in the running as well. The Patriots have developed a reputation for helping veteran offensive players rejuvenate their careers.

Obviously the Patriots already have Sony Michel and James White, but already having talent at a given offensive position has never stopped them from picking up pieces before.
