Is A Big Trade Brewing Between The Clippers And Rockets?

Is A Big Trade Brewing Between The Clippers And Rockets?

The Los Angeles Clippers have had something of a rough month. Between flaming out in the NBA playoffs against the Phoenix Suns and team owner Steve Ballmer’s perpetually bizarre behavior, the franchise has seen better days. And things got even worse this week.

On Tuesday evening the team announced that star Kawhi Leonard had undergone surgery to repair a partial tear of the ACL in his right knee.

Although the Clippers said there was no timetable for his return, a nine or so month recovery time is standard for situations of this sort.

It is very unlikely that Leonard plays the majority of next season, if at all.

Clearly Paul George will need some help, particularly on the offensive end, if the Clippers hope to compete.

On potential trade target? John Wall of the Houston Rockets.

This week, an eagle-eyed fan noticed some interesting activity on Wall’s Twitter account:

Now does this mean Wall is definitely LA-bound? Obviously not. But the fact that he is a fan of the move is telling.

Mind you, this isn’t the first time Wall has been linked to the Clippers. A trade was discussed earlier this year.

Wall averaged 20.6 points and 6.9 assists in 32.2 minutes per game in 2020-21. It was his first legitimate season back from injuries since 2018, and he definitely showed that he could still be a force on the offensive side of the ball.

If the Clippers don’t end up getting their preferred offseason target, they could do a lot worse than making a move for Wall.
