Henry Ruggs Speaks On Disappointing 40-Yard Time

Henry Ruggs spoke out on his disappointing 40-yard dash time recently. The Alabama star’s was the fastest recorded time of this year’s incoming crop of players, but it still did not compare with what Ruggs expected he would run.

At the NFL combine, Ruggs recorded a 40-yard dash time of 4.27.

Despite that seemingly strong figure, Ruggs felt like he should have done better.

“I actually was a little disappointed,” Ruggs said.

“Just a lot of technical things I did during the run. … But I’m still glad to be known as one of the fastest ever.

“After the re-start I was thinking a lot and didn’t really come out of my start like I wanted to, didn’t really come out fluid, and didn’t really push on my first two steps. Then, running with my hands closed kind of tensed me up so I couldn’t really open up like I wanted to.”

Ruggs is widely regarded as a first round draft pick, so he should be selected fairly early come April 23.
