Louisville basketball star Hailey Van Lith is in the midst of her best ever season as a collegiate athlete.

So far in 2022-23 Van Lith is averaging 19.1 points per game and shooting 88 percent from the free throw line. Both numbers are up from the 14.4 points per game and 81.3 percent from the charity stripe she shot in 2021-22, as well as the 11.2 points per game and 83 percent she shot in 2020-21.

Due in no small part to Van Lith’s efforts the team is currently 19-9 and boasts a 10-5 conference record. The Cardinals are also just two games back of first-place Duke in the conference.

This past week Van Lith took to social media to make a big announcement.

“A [little] fun fact,” she wrote.

“I decided to major in finance because I want to support increased financial literacy for the next gen of girls in sports. Financial education should be accessible to everyone!!”

It’s hard not to respect someone as influential Van Lith making it a point to be a leader both on and off the court. Truly impressive stuff.

Van Lith is one of the biggest names in women’s college hoops right now. Obviously the Cavinder Twins hold down the top spot due to their wild videos, but she is a close second.

And Van Lith has a very solid social media following of her own.

As the college basketball season progresses, it will be interesting to see where Van Lith goes from here.

If she can lead Louisville to a National Championship or somewhere close to it, her stock both on and off the court will absolutely skyrocket.

Will 2023 be the year Van Lith establishes herself as the biggest name in hoops?

One way or the other, an answer will emerge soon enough.
