Evander Holyfield Calls Out Mike Tyson Again

Evander Holyfield Calls Out Mike Tyson Again

On the heels of Mike Tyson’s surprisingly solid showing against Roy Jones Jr., one of his former rivals wants another crack.

On Tuesday, Evander Holyfield called out Tyson in a scathing press release.

“My side tried to make the fight happen and we got nothing but excuses,” he said.

“Now I can see why he wanted a tune-up fight before thinking about fighting me.”

Holyfield challenged Tyson to stop making excuses and agree to fight him.

“No more excuses,” he added.

“This is the fight that must happen for both our legacies. Saturday night you said you were ready to fight me, so sign the contract and get in the ring, Tyson. The world is waiting and it’s on you now. I’m ready.”

Tyson, for his part, was asked about a rematch against Holyfield following Saturday’s bout.

“Maybe Evander needs to talk to me because every time my business associates talk to his business associates, it doesn’t turn out well,” he replied.

“So, I don’t know. If you could see what we made tonight, if these guys really care about the welfare of Evander, they would have had this fight with Evander. Maybe we’ll do another, but whoever he’s with, whoever is handling him is totally wrong.”

Tyson and Holyfield would likely draw more interest than Tyson and Jones did, just based on the shared history between the pair. Will that be enough to get something done? Time will tell.
