Denver Broncos Abruptly Fire Coach

The Denver Broncos abruptly fired a coach on Sunday.

Denver hired offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello just one year ago.

Apparently they were not satisfied with his work over the past season, because he was given the boot this past weekend.

The 47-year-old spent exactly one year on the team’s staff.

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the move caught a lot of people off guard because of how much better the team’s offense looked at the end of 2019.

Behind rookie quarterback Drew Lock, the Broncos looked like a completely different group and won two straight to close out the year.

Scangarello reportedly has a strong reputation around the league and will likely have little trouble finding a new job.

“(He) has a good reputation for evaluating and developing QBs,” Pelissero noted.

“Worked with Kyle Shanahan in Atlanta and San Francisco. Should have options.”

Scangarello has previously coached for the San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders.
