Dennis Schroder’s Message To Celtics After Lakers Exit (Photos)

Dennis Schroder has experienced a whirlwind of emotions over the past year.

After averaging 15.4 points while shooting 43.7 percent from the field and 33.5 percent from beyond the arc, and chipping in 3.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game last season, the 27-year-old seemed confident he’d be rewarded with a massive deal in free agency. He was so sure of it, in fact, that he aggressively rejected $84 million from the Los Angeles Lakers because he was so certain that he was worth $100+ million.

Everyone knows what happened next.

Schroder received very little interest for most of free agency, right up until the point all his prospects dwindled. At that stage, he had no choice but to accept the $5.9 million taxpayer midlevel exception from the Boston Celtics. He would go on to send a defiant 5-word message regarding the whole process, as did his wife, but it largely fell on deaf ears given the humiliation he had just suffered.

This week, Schroder sent another message to the Celtics and Lakers by way of an Instagram story: I’m coming back scarier than ever in 2021-22.

Whether you love him or hate him, there is no denying the facts – Schroder looks ripped in that photo. Clearly he has been working hard over the offseason.

Back in 2019-20, before his disastrous LA run, Schroder averaged nearly 19 points per game for the Oklahoma City Thunder and looked be on the verge of breaking out. He also seemed to have a better attitude at that juncture, given how much his Lakers teammates absolutely hated him.

Will Schroder return to that 2019-20 form for the Celtics this coming season? Time will tell.
