Dallas Cowboys Make Sudden Coaching Change

The Dallas Cowboys made a sudden coaching change this week.

On Wednesday, Mike McCarthy hired the man who will serve as his running backs lead.

Skip Peete worked as a Cowboys running backs coach from 2007 to 2012. Now he will be making his return to the organization as a member of McCarthy’s staff.

In Peete’s initial run with Dallas he worked with Marion Barber, Felix Jones and DeMarco Murray.

It will be interesting to see what he can ultimately do with a talent like Ezekiel Elliot at his disposal.

One interesting tidbit pointed out by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport is that Peete actually shares an agent with Elliot. It is unclear whether that factored in at all when McCarthy was making his decision on who to hire.

Prior to linking up with the Cowboys, Peete served on the Oakland Raiders staff from 1998 to 2006. After that he was hired by Wade Phillips and became a member of the Cowboys family.

Following his run with Dallas, Peete worked with the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams.
