Dabo Swinney Loses Clemson Star To Transfer

Dabo Swinney lost a Clemson star to transfer this week.

On Saturday, Tigers defensive end Xavier Kelly revealed that he would be entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The move is not a particularly shocking one, as Kelly was unable to secure playing time behind a stacked Clemson defensive roster. He has primarily ridden the bench since his arrival in 2016.
“I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, and the entire Clemson family for all of the love and support they have provided me over the last few years,” Kelly said in a statement.

“I was hold onto all of the memories that were shared with my brothers during my time at Clemson University.

“With that being said, I have decided to enter the transfer portal and continue my football career elsewhere. It has been an honor to say that I have graduated from Clemson. Clemson will always have a special place in my heart.”

Originally, Kelly arrived on the scene with a lot of hype surrounding him. He was a four-star recruit and considered the eighth best defensive end in his class.

Although he was unable to carve out a niche for himself at Clemson, at nearly six-foot-five and 265 pounds, he has all of the physical attributes to be successful.

A final decision on where he will transfer to should come at some point in the next few weeks.
