West Virginia has had something of a forgettable college football season. Coming into Saturday the Mountaineers are 5-4 through 9 nine games and staring down the barrel of another disappointing campaign.

Not too long ago, West Virginia was one of the more fun-to-watch programs around.

But that feels like a distant memory now.

The bright side of it all, however, is that it has allowed non-football athletes like Smith at the university to thrive.

West Virginia may not be known for football anymore, but its gymnastics program is in good hands with Smith leading the charge.
