LSU Is Hiring Former Nebraska Coach Bo Pelini

LSU is hiring former Nebraska coach Bo Pelini to serve as its new defensive coordinator.

Pelini was famously fired from the Cornhuskers in 2014.

After that, he spent the next five seasons coaching at Youngstown State – leading the Penguins to a second-place finish in the FCS Championship in 2016.

Now Pelini appears ready to make a big-time return.

In a recent report, Football Scoop notes that Pelini is a favored candidate to take over the role left behind by Dave Aranda.

Aranda left the Tigers this past season to take over as head coach of Baylor, following the departure of Matt Rhule to the Carolina Panthers.

This would not be Pelini’s first stint at LSU. He previously served as the program’s defensive coordinator from 2005 to 2007 back when Les Miles was head coach. He then went to Nebraska in 2007.

Over the course of seven years with the Huskers, Pelini amassed a record of 67-27. He went .500 in bowl appearances during that stretch, and finished within the top 25 on five separate occasions.

Is Pelini the right fit for the defending national champions? We’ll get our answer once and for all come next season.
